July 28, 2013: Zebrafish

Zebrafish, beginning

Zebrafish, beginnings

Playing with microscopy images of zebrafish.  A freshwater fish belonging to the minnow family, zebrafish are often used in scientific research. I love the image colors, so I’m considering several approaches and more than one piece.

May 9, 2013: Early stages, Cellspace Two

CellspaceTwo_20130509

I’ve started a partner to Cellspace One, which can be viewed in the post dated March 7. Two uses microscopy images of neural progenitor cells; One is composed of  blood vessel cell images.

I use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create my cell artwork.

Some of the guests haven’t arrived yet. But I’ll be using images of human cortical neurons and neural precursor cells taken at 400 times their original size for all in The Gathering.

April 23, 2013: Tiling Two, Brain Battle

Tiling Two: Brain Battle

If you haven’t seen it already, check out today’s earlier blog, which includes the separate images used in Tiling Two: Brain Battle.  What tile patterns would you have made by rotating, reflecting and grouping the images?

BrainBattleCell-Images

Tiling Two: Brain Battle is almost ready.  In sharing the original cell images, I thought you might enjoy finding their reflections, rotations and groupings in the finished piece, which I will post later today.

March 21, 2013: Tiling One, progressing

TilingOne_20130321_4pm

Not done yet; patterns will replace the solid, light green filler. But, I’ve made progress on the piece and learned something: I appreciate tiling experts! This piece challenges me even though I can re-size my tiles; alter their colors; and copy, reflect, rotate or align them with the click of a mouse. Without bending or messy grout.
